When one person in a family goes to prison or jail, the whole family goes, and society is affected. Just what could we as Americans do to improve our criminal justice system? First of all, there are basic moral laws for every society. Yes,moral laws, not immoral ones.
1. Establish courts of justice.
2.Do not eat a living creature or human.
3. Do not commit robbery.
4.Do not commit adultery.
5. Do not murder.
6.Do not commit blashphemy.
7. Do not commit idolatry.
Just what is justice? Justice is depicted as a person blindfolded carrying scales in balance. Truth must come forward to tip the scales. A judge is a powerful person and is to be respected and honored. He or she must be impartial and not take bribes or be corrupt. This causes innocent people to suffer. If a person intentionally commits murder, they are to be put to death. If you do not believe in the death penalty, why? If your child was murdered would you be allowed to take vengeance in our society today? No, you would not. There are accidental murders and this is where mercy comes into play.
Cannibalism is forbidden in modern evolved societies. You can easily see why. Robbery is where things are no different that persons. We take very little out of this world when we die and even that disintegrates. Robbers steal things and do not care if they commit murder in the process. Thieves come in and take property that does not belong to them when the owner is away. This must be repaid seven fold. A beggar, if a true one, is a poor person who is hungry and asks for food or basic needs. Blasphemy dishonors the Creator who gives all life. We all have animal or human ancestors, for there had to be a beginning of life. No human could have created this Universe.
Adultery is going outside of a vowed relationship. If two of the same sex were all that joined, no future generations would live. Adultery invites broken homes, upset families and hurt children. We are not to hurt children, for they are innocent. Elderly people are like children, and are to be respected for their life experience and wisdom. All life is able and does teach. Idolatry is just plain silly. It is bowing before a man made image and it is a false god. People or any created thing is not to be worshiped. We are to take care of the widow, the stranger, the fatherless, and true spiritual leaders. Building more and more institutions will eventually not work. Yes, many persons need to be put away from society. Maybe as Americans, we need to teach these moral laws. What do you think?
